Reviews
ChicagoGigs.com maintains a team of qualified,
free-lance music journalists and a handful of contributing writers, who cover most of the
popular genres. The majority of our writers are paid by ChicagoGigs.com for their time,
which provides what we believe to be an above average quality of content but restricts the
number of new reviews we can provide. As more artists have become involved in the site,
the number of review requests has grown to the point where we can no longer keep pace. The
simple fact that we cannot accommodate every artist that would like to be reviewed has
prompted a few changes in our review policy - effective June 2001.CD Reviews
CD's are accepted for review if they are released by a Chicago-based band/artist or
Chicago-based indie label. All CD's submitted for review must be widely available for sale
to the public. No demos will be reviewed. All CD's are filed by date received and the
sender is notified by e-mail of its receipt. The sender will also be notified by e-mail
when the review is posted. ChicagoGigs.com does not guarantee that all CD's
received will be reviewed.

Live Reviews
Our writers attend shows and do live reviews but these are limited in number.
Live review requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Tips for live review requests:
- Give us at least 4 weeks notice and provide more than one date.
- Let us know why a live review is necessary (cover/tribute band, no CD yet, etc.) or why
this show is unique (new line-up, charity show, etc.).
- As most of our writers live in Chicago, downtown shows are more likely to be reviewed.
That doesn't mean we won't review a show in the 'burbs, but it is more difficult for us to
schedule.
Preferential
Treatment?
Member Artists (i.e. bands/artists that are paying members of the ChicagoGigs.com
community) are given priority in the review schedule. They are not, however, provided with
any special treatment from our writers.
Note
In an effort to provide more quality and variety of content to our readers,
ChicagoGigs.com has begun to schedule reviews of non-Chicago related artists. This doesn't
mean that we are abandoning local bands - Chicago is still our focus. Just don't be
surprised if you see a live review of a signed act now and then.
