IIwII was formed in Chicago in 2004 and is fronted by several award winning musicians whose training ranges from classical voice to flamenco guitar. From our contrasting backgrounds a common and universal story has emerged, guiding the style and structure of our music. Our group name and song structure reflect this diversity of direction, feeling, and influence. So do our melodies, which span the range of human emotions. We believe the statement, “It Is What It Is,” a seemingly philosophical but trivial saying, comprehensively describes our sound and style.
