AFI (A Fire Inside) is one of the hardcore punk band which was formed in the year of 1991 with Davey Havoc on vocals, Markus Stopholese on guitar, Vick as bassist, and drummer Adam Carson. The band was formed when the three of them happened to be in their high school in Ukaiah, CA. But, soon Vick departed from the band and was replaced by Geoff Kresge. During this time the band played some local gigs and came out with their first release split 7" in collaboration with Ukiah natives Loose Change. Their first EP named as "Behind the Times"also released during this time.

By now, the members of the band broke up to perform individually at different colleges. Kresge temporarily shifted to New Jersy and joined Blanks 77. But, AFI reunited in the during school holidays and performed at a one-off reunion concert. The audience response was so overwhelming that the group decided to concentrate fully on music. During this time the band came up with several singles, eventually signing a record deal with Nitro label under which they issued their second album titled "Very Proud Of Ya" in 1996.

AFI also came up with their two LP's that included a re-release of their debut "Answer That & Stay Fashionable," and "Shut Your Mouth & Open Your Eyes". It was only at this time when Kresge left the group and was replaced by Hunter. In due course of time Stopholese also departed from because of the ex-Remdemption 87 guitarist Jade Puget.

Later on the band's brand new line up recorded an EP which titled "A Fire Inside" in 1998, followed by a full length album " Black Sails in the Sunset" in 1999. All these releases brought the band an endless fame that made them popular round the globe. In the consecutive year the group came up with yet another album "Art of Drowning" which was also a considerable success. Millennium, however, proved to be much worthwhile as they did several recordings for Garbage's Butch Vig. "Sing The Sorrow" that was released in 2003 is considered to be their major-label debut that was released under the label of Dream Works. So, go and buy tickets for their concerts from the ticket master sites and explore a whole new world of punk.
