The band was formed by the ex-Jerkwater drummer Matt Skiba (vocals/guitar), Glenn Porter (drums/vocals), formerly of 88 Fingers Louie and Rob Doran on (bass/vocals). The actual birth of the Alkaline Trio happened to be in 1997 by heartbreak, angst, and the companionship of drinking. The band's EP "For Your Lungs" was issued in the year 1997, when one of their band member Doran left the group.

"Sundials" was released in the consecutive year under the label of Johann's Face Records. Dan Andriano who joined the group as a bassist led the band to establish their name across the mid-west with their melodramatic pop-punk songs. It was only in the year 1998 that the band came up with their first full-length album "Goddamnit!" which got quite a lot praises initially.

In the year 1999, group's two albums "Maybe I'll Catch Fire" and a self-titled singles collection was released. Doing several concerts acros th ecountry, this pop-punk band by now were one of the favorite's among the crowd. With the coming of a new millennium the band also underwent ceratin changes like Glenn Porter exited in early 2000 and ex-Smoking Popes drummer Mike Felumlee departed the band making it a three-piece again.The journey of the trio did not stop here as they released "Vagrant" in the spring of 2001, followed by "Good Mourning" that was released exactly two years after the release of Vagrant. It is said that Mourning performed quite well on the musical charts specially on the Billboard charts.

Alkaline Trio was aired on the late-night TV shows and also made several summer tours. Their latest release came up in 2005 that was titled "Crimson."You can listen to the band at their live concerts, so all you have to do is, just visit your ticket master sites and buy tickets for the live show.
