Background:
Mexican singer Ana Gabriel is a Mexican singer who performed for the first time on the stage at a tender age of six when she sang José Alfredo Jiménez's "Regalo A Dios." She is the daughter of Raúl Araújo and Japanese descendant Isabel Young. She migrated to Tijuana to study accountancy and develop a career in music at the age of 15. She recorded her debut album which was titled "Comprendeme" in 1997. She was the seond position holder at a local festival known as Valores Juveniles, where she sang "No Me Lastimes Mas." In 1986, Ana Gabriel represented Mexico at OTI's Festival. She got her irst major musical breakthrough 1988 after she released Tierra De Nadie, which featured the song "Simplemente Amigos" which was a major hit.

Her audiences have been bowled over by her mature voice and her professionalism and she has held these qualities since her first performance in public. In the last 25 years of her career she has offered her songs and inspired several thousand audiences the world over.

She has had a very rewarding career and has won numerous awards like 10 Lo Nuestro Awards for Best Singer in Latin Music, Album of the Year, Best Interpreter, Best Feminine Artist and Song of the Year award. Not only these but her albums have been certified diamond, platinum and gold and also she has won numerous series of trophies, medals, awards, diplomas, silver torches, etc.
Ranchera songs, ballads, corridos, even lambada have been successfully interpreted by her. Concerned with retrieving the root of our origins, Ana Gabriel has documented herself through specialists on early century music, this is where Mexican songs get their unique style. She has till date recorded 14albums which are in every sense a true show case of her passion for love with romantic themes.
Her album titled I AM WHAT I AM, shows a romantic Ana Gabriel, fresh and ready to transmit both her interpretative and her human qualities. The production of this album took a long time and the last recording was done in the renowned recording studios Estefan Enterprises, in Miami, Florida.
