Backstreet Boys, a name we always have on our mouths for their versatile singing be it hip-hop, R&B , and club dance pop. The band is considered to be one of the most renowned bands in the country as well as abroad. They comprise of white, middle-class Americans that have made a mark as one of the most admired bands. The band made their debut in the year of 1996. Although the album couldn't do well in their native country, it was successful in rest of the countries. It got the greatest success in the Canada and Europe and climbed the top ten musical charts. But, as far as their popularity in the native land, Backstreet Boys had to wait for almost two years before they were actually known in their own country.

The band was started with Backstreet Boys two members Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell. Both are cousins and belong from Lexington, KY. It all started when the duo started performing in local church choirs and also in the festivals since the time they were children. The other members of the band Howie Dorough and A.J Mc Lean met each other soon and also added the fifth band member Nick Carter to the group through local auditions for commercials, theater, and television. But, Richardson shifted to Orlando, where he spent most of his time working as a tour guide at Disney World and practiced music during the night time. Over here, he met Dorough, Carter, and Mclean through a co-worker and formed a quartet. Littrell joined the group eventually to form a quintet of the band.

With the help of a friend, Louis J. Perlman, who was a record producer, Backstreet Boys were soon put on road with some more help from Donna and Johnny Write. The boys did several A&R reps that said come see the boys perform live. During this time, the group's talent was noticed by Jive/Zomba who signed Backstreet boys for their label. The producers Veit Renn and Tim Allen worked day and night with them to produce their first album for quite some time. In the year of 1995, they were called as Best Newcomers at the Smash Hits Awards. This popularity was due to their international hit single "We've Got It Goin' On". Other hit singles included "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" and "As Long You Love Me" that went platinum. In 1999, yet another album including, Hit Singles Everybody (Backsteet's Back)," "I'll Never Break Your Heart," and "All I Have to Give" rocked the countries throughout the world. The album sold more than 13 million copies around the globe, making them as one of the most recognized bands in every street, home, and town.

Their successful career had no stopping since then. With the release of "Millennium" in 1999, the band came to number one with the sales of nearly one million copies within one week of time. Although, no singles were released officially from the album in the U.S, all of them topped the musical charts on the basis of airplay alone. The album included popular songs such as "Show Me The Meaning," "Larger Than Life," and "The One". By Christmas, "Millennium" sold about 12 million copies. In the fall of 2000, Backstreet Boys again came up with yet another album titled "Black & Blue".The quintet has made several tours throughout the world.
