Three members of the band include Barry Gibb, who was born on Sep 1st , in Manchester, England, followed by his fraternal twins siblings Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb. The duo was born on the Isle of Man, and were three amongst the five children of a band leader named as Hugh Gibb and Barbara Gibb , a former singer. However, the band's early performances include the ones which they gave at the local concerts at the area movie theaters located in Manchester itself, in the year of 1955. More interesting part to know about them is that initially the band performed at the stage with different names such as England's skiffle king, Lonnie Donegan, and proto-rock & roller Tommy Steele.

However, in the year of 1962, they signed their very first record deal with the Festival Records. Under this label the band released their first single titled "Three Kisses of Love." The single got hugely popular amongst the crowd and this was time when the band succeeded in attaining victory in their step to enhance their musical career. The band soon came out with their debut LP "The Bee Gees Sing and Play" which included nearly 14 songs from Barry Gibb.

Other follow ups included 1967's "Bee Gees 1st," "Children Of The World," released in 1976, followed by "Spirits Having Flown," which was released in the year of 1979. By now the band had aqcuired tremendous amount of fame which made them one of the hit bands of which the audience were really fond.
