Blackalicious is known for the "positive tip" among hip-hoppers. Its lyrics are well discerned from others because of spiritual and uplifting character against being vicious or misogynous. Akin to most of the experimental unusual rappers, Blackalicious has certain quirky and eccentric elements. But spirituality comprises an immense ingredient of the group's music. For this very reason thousands are after its tickets.

Though Blackalicious was formed in the early '90s, most of its members were known to each other since the late '80s. This goes back to 1987, when Gift of Gab (T.J. Parker) and Chief Xcel (Xavier Mosley), two students met at John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento, CA. After their graduation they were separated. But soon they were reunited in Davis, CA, in 1992.When Xcel was a student of the University of California at Davis, Gab formed Blackalicious with him. At Davis, Xcel was already working with a hip-hop outfit named the Sole Sides Crew. Its members incorporated were DJ Shadow, Lateef the Truth Speaker, and Lyrics Born. The Sole Sides Crew joined Blackalicious.

In 1994, Blackalicious' debut single "Swan Lake" was released under Sole Sides Records. The single was a petite hit and did well among unconventional rap listeners. SoleSides Records released Blackalicious EP titled Melodica in the subsequent year. In late 1997, SoleSides Records became Quannum Records. In 1999, another Blackalicious EP, titled A2G hit the market. The band's full-length album Nia was issued in 2000, under the Quannum label. In late 2000, Blackalicious signed a deal with the major label MCA. Their complete album "Blazing Arrow" was released by MCA in April 2002.It brags guest looks by artists ranging from vocalist Zack de la Rocha to old hand soul songster Gil Scott-Heron.

In 2004, Gift of Gab issued the "4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up", his first solo album. In the same year, Chief Xcel came up with "The Underground Spiritual Game". It was, put up more or less on his preferred flashes from the all-embracing directory of afrobeat prodigy Fela Kuti. A month later, Xcel released "Maroons: Ambush by Lateef and the Chief". The third full-length album, "The Craft", hit the records on September 27, 2005. To groove with Blackalicious, contact your ticket vendor now.
