Blues Traveler is a New York based band that was formed in 1988. It is a group of four people that includes singer/harmonica player John Popper, Chan Kinchla on guitar, bassist Bobby Sheehan, and Brenden Hill on drums. The band was inspired by the jamming rhythms of the 60's and 70's groups like the "Grateful Dead" and "Led Zeppelin" . In May, 1990, Blues Traveler signed a record deal with A&M and released their first debut album "Blues Traveler," followed by "Travelers and Thieves" that came up in September of the same year.

But, it is said that John Popper met with a car accident in 1992 due to which he was out of the scene for couple of months. Soon after his recovery, the band's third album "Save His Soul" was released in 1993 in the month of April. This album was a successful hit which climbed to the musical charts to make it to the Top 100. However, their fourth album was released in September 1994 which seemed to be a disappointment initially. But, the album rebounded in 1995 with hit singles like "Run-Around" which was the first hit song of the album. The song "Run-Around" was one of the most heard songs that went platinum. It stayed on the charts for nearly half of the year.

The band appeared for a follow-up tour for four, and subsequently released their live double-album. After the release of live-double album, the crew returned in the back in the year of 1997 and came up their fifth studio album "Straight on Till Morning". But, the group met with yet another tragedy when Sheehan was found dead in his New Orleans home on 20th of August, 1999. However, the start of the new millennium showcased the band as a brand new Blues Traveler. With the release of their sixth album "Bridge" that appeared in 2001 made the band popular once again.
