Her second single 'Jesus Take the Wheel' was a huge success and the album went double platinum and went on to become the fastest selling debut country album. Underwood also received a standing ovation at the Grand Ole Opry for her rendition of the country classic 'Stand By Your Man'.

Underwood was named Oklahoman of the Year in 2005, voted one of the 25 Hottest Stars Under 25 and the World's Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA in 2005. She has won 3 Billboard awards and a number of nominations from the Academy of Country Music.
