Clay was born on November, 30, 1978. He started singing at an early age. Clay was quite different from other kids. He had a great love for music. Before hitting the school he was singing the Dolly Patron classic "Islands in the Stream." Clay had very conducive teenage years to develop his musical skills. During his teens, Clay was a regular member of the local Raleigh Boys Choir. Before completing his education, Aiken was quite popular.
He sang the rendition of Simon and Carbuncle's hugely popular "Bridge over Troubled Waters." After finishing at number two, Aiken signed up a contract with RCA. Aiken's hit debut single, "This Is the Night," went on to become a huge hit and climbed at number one slot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
