In 1998 the band released its self titled debut album which was a big hit. They instantly became famous for their special and unique lyrics and the unique baritone of the singer.
After gaining success locally Fred Durst, invited Scooter Ward to sing two tracks, Check Please and Ugly. The demos which were recorded and were to passed on to producer Ross Robinson. He was immensely impressed by it.
In 1998 the band debuted under the A&M records. It was very well appreciated by their fans. After the release of this Geffen financed Coldplay's sophomore effort 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage. Most of the times this is considered till date their best effort. For this release guitarist Terry Balsamo joined the group to play alongside Kelly Hayes.
13 Ways to Bleed on Stage released in fall 2000 was a major hit and proved that they were in the main music stream. After the release of this album Geffen once again financed their third release in 2003, which was titled Year of the Spider. It was a massive hit and was much more popular than the !3 Ways To Bleed on Stage. After the release of this album there were some personal problems amongst the band members and Geffen refused to promote the album any further. This all led to Terry Balsamo and Kerry leaving the group in 2003. In 2004 the band signed up with the Atlantic Records and the band released its album titled, And a Sad Song Lives On in 2005.
