Get your tickets to see one of the best pop bands to ever come out of England, a group that has influenced an entire generation of musicians and is all set to make a grand comeback- come get your tickets to see Culture Club live in concert. Often seen to be a band that was way before their time, the impact that Culture Club had on music is undeniable and they will always hold an important place in the history of pop music.

Culture Club was formed by the popular, gender-bending Boy George who was the front-man and one of the most popular aspects of the group. Boy George first hit the music scene as Lieutenant Lush in the group Bow Wow Wow, a part that he became very popular for. As would be seen later on, Boy George was not just a great singer, he was a wonderful entertainer as well that held himself as a unique personality on stage. After ensuing friction with other Bow Wow Wow member Annabella Lwin, Boy George went on his own and formed his own group, roping in Jon Moss, Roy Hay and Mikey Craig to join him. The result was Culture Club.

Much of Culture Club's appeal lay with Boy George himself. During a time when issues of homosexuality and trans-genderism were still very much un-polite topics to discuss, Boy George was a delicious anomaly that kept the public guessing. He dressed like a girl but he sounded like a guy and the mixture was scandalous and glamorous. But that certainly wasn't the only thing that Culture Club was riding on. Their songs were hooky and danceable and yet the lyrics were anything but sugar-coated, mindless pop. They were surprisingly poignant, often witty and were a great draw for the fans,

Culture Club perhaps made their biggest hit with the release of the single 'Karma Chameleon' which was a smash hit of the decade. Things seemed to be going well for the band around that time but internal pressures were taking their toll- Boy George had been having an affair with Moss for around four years that was turbulent and difficult to keep under wraps. Added to this was Boy George's addiction to heroin. The group eventually broke up- Boy George kicked his heroin habit and embarked on a solo career, devoid of the make-up and came up with a very poignant and powerful single called 'The Crying Game'.

In 1998 the group came together for a very successful reunion tour which they followed up with a decent album called Don't Mind if I Do. Though recently the band has been inactive owing to Boy George's very successful DJ career, the band is all set to get back together and make music once again.
