In his illustrious career spanning decades Dan has traveled through various paths. After a number of years rocking in the early 1980s with the remarkable Del Fuegos, Dan Zanes went on to create his own band naming it the Dan Zanes Trio, in the start of 1994. The group was initially started when Zanes who incidentally was hanging out with the talented producer Mitchell Froom in Manhattan went on to add drummer Jerry Marotta. Thereafter they started playing their beautiful minimalist, blues and delightful folk-rock to appreciative crowds in small clubs. The trio's first LP titled Cool Down Time which was essentially a raw rock effort which was definitely influenced by core R&B themes was released in 1995. In the beginning of the year 2001, Zanes interestingly resurfaced with the beautiful children's folk-tinged Rocket Ship Beach, which featured "friends" including Sheryl Crow, Suzanne Vega and the talented Rankin' Don. Zanes also continued his successful Dan Zanes & Friends children's musical series in the year 2002 with the successful release of the Family Dance with the friends Rosanne Cash and Loudon Wainwright which has become very popular with the audiences across the country.

The music of Dan Zanes brings together a unique style to folksy songs and brings together a troupe of extremely talented musicians and imaginative instrumentation. His current brand of music which geared towards young audiences is a much better above most other children's folk music albums. In his live shows; the music takes us through a through a mesmerizing variety of varied musical styles with remarkably happy songs many of whom are about friendship and are delightfully performed. Much of his music is quirky and eccentric.

It is a wonderful experience to watch Dan perform live. It is possibly the best show to take your kids for an evening of memorable fun.
