The talented Daniel Barenboim was born on 15th November 1942) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His parents happened to be Russian Jews. He currently holds citizenship of both Israeli and Spain. Barenboim incidentally first came to fame as a talented pianist but eventually became well-known as a master conductor. He received critical acclaim for his pioneering work where he mixed orchestras of Arabs origins and Jews. His famed collaboration with reputed Palestinian activist Edward Said was also well appreciated.

The legendary Barenboim started rigorous piano lessons at the early age of five along with his mother. In the mid 1950, when he was just seven years old, he went on to give his first concert in Buenos Aires which was widely noted. In the year 1952, the Barenboim family had to move to Israel. Then in mid 1954, his parents took him to Salzburg region to take part in the reputed Igor Markevitch's conducting sessions. During that eventful summer he incidentally also met and successfully played for Wilhelm Furtwängler. In the year 1955 he went on to study harmony and nuances of composition with the famed Nadia Boulanger in Paris.

Thereafter he made his remarkable debut as a pianist in Vienna in a show that was widely appreciated under the guidance of Leopold Stokowski. This was followed by regular concert tours to various parts of Europe, United States and even South America. His first recording was released in1954, and he went on to later record the entire complete cycles of the delightful piano sonatas of greats like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and even Ludwig van Beethoven. He made his successful debut as a conductor in the Philharmonia Orchestra. This took place in London in the year 1967. After this Barenboim has never looked behind and has scaled heights as a successful and fantastic conductor. In 2004, the great Barenboim was awarded with the Wolf Prize at a gala ceremony at the renowned Israeli Knesset.
