Are you in the mood to see a classic entertainer and musician par excellence, a singer who has not only made a name for himself as part of a famous duo but as a solo artist as well? Then you need to get yourself tickets to see Daryl Hall live in concert. Perhaps better known as one half of the legendary duo Hall and Oates, Hall has made quite a name for himself as a solo artist as well and his releases have met with much critical acclaim.

Hall grew up in Pennsylvania, where he was introduced to music at a very early age. His mother would play Frank Sinatra songs for him when he was young but Hall quickly became enamored with the sounds of Motown and R&B. This love of music was far more deep-seeded than many thought; instead of attending piano lessons Hall would take his bicycle and pedal across to a black ghetto called Chicken Hill, where he would just sit and listen to the music.

This tendency to follow the music and simply absorb it would follow him into college, where he did not graduate from Temple University, opting instead to sing on street corners. He began to sing back up and decided to take up sessions work seriously. In 1969 he joined a band called Gulliver that released one album before it was dropped from the label. Hall would meet Oates at a band competition and in 1972, Hall and Oates was born.

In 1977, Hall released his first solo effort called Sacred Songs, which echoed the strains of experimentalists like Bowie and Brian Eno. After Hall and Oates took a break after their 1985 tour, Hall met up with David Stewart and released a second album, which spawned two hits 'Dreamtime' and 'Foolish Pride'. However, despite having help from legendary musicians like Joni Mitchell and Bob Geldof, the album was considered a failure commercially though the label did not market it as aggressively as their Hall and Oates material. Hall and Oates ultimately left the label.

In 1993 Hall released another solo album which again was a critical success but did not do well commercially since the label was not sure how to market it. Unlike the sound of Hall and Oates, this album had a much jazzier feel, more akin to Hall's kind of music. Hall would go on to release two more solo albums as well as do some collaborative numbers with artists like Dusty Springfield. Hall was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease but states that he is still healthy enough to keep performing.
