Derek Trucks Band is one of the popular band of its times with Derek Trucks on guitar & Dobro, Todd Smallie on bass & Vocals, Yonrico Scott on (drums, percussion & vocals), Kofi Burbridge & Mike Mattison on (keyboards, flute and vocals), and Count M'Butu on congas & percussion.

Derek Trucks developed an interest towards music at the age of nine, when he bought a five dollar guitar at a sale. It was just the charm of the musical instrument that made him inclined towards music.His career as a musician started on a small scale, when he started playing guitar with other local musicians in the town. Derek is considered to be as one of the youngest guitarist making up to "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list. At the age of 12 he formed his own band, and it was only later in 1994 when Todd Smallie came into the scene. Todd was already into the mainstream as he performed with several jazz musicians across Atlanta. It is said that Derek and Todd shared a great chemistry between each other.

The year 1999 proved vital for the guitarist, as he joined Allman Brothers Band, which was founded by his uncle "Butch" Trucks. With all this, Derek continued giving performances for both the groups. Till date he has played for almost more than a million of his fans round the world.
