Founded by lead singer Tyley Ross and multi-instrumentalist Peter Kiesewalter,The East Village Opera Company is tough bond of two guitarists, a bassist, a percussionist, two prominent vocalists and a string quartet. Vocalist AnnMarie Milazzo gives female voice for the band. It is also abbreviated as EVOC usually. This rock group is a enthusiastic team of who is determined to touch the zenith of music in traditional operatic pieces blended beautifully with modern strings. Including two outstanding vocalist , EVOC brings the height of emotions and unaltered musicality of opera on its debut and won over the audience' with their ingenious, creative set up of music. Their outstanding hits include "La donna mobile" from "Rigoletto", "Habanera" from Carmen, and "Nessun dorma".

The theme and concept regarding music seems to be impertinent but can't called totally new in pop. Malcolm McLaren, the former punk-rock promoter launched its album "Fans" in 1985 that was having a blend of funky beats and electronic programming to the works of Puccini and Bizet. EVOC, on the other hand is a eleven piece rock band devoted to opera and electrifying the classics. Neil Dorfsman has been a three time winner of Grammy Award including credits like super hits bestsellers by Sting, Dire Straits, Paul McCartney, and Bjork. The album also featured the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and lead violinist Pauline Kim, taking the classic collection of arias and mixing rock into the picture with equal amounts class, style, and rhythm.

With superb contribution by keyboardist Peter Kiesewalter who is passionate about the modern music & the other members of this rock team is flying above the sky with its wonderful arrangement and inclusion of rock and opera without mortifying any of them. EVOC has proved its creativity and freshness as well as the imagination by its musical opera. They have touched the hearts and heights of music where other classical-cross over efforts have been unsuccessful. In Peter's words "We have a profound love and respect for the opera. But its so dramatic, so over the top by todays standards, that it cannot be delivered with a straight face. You need a little bit of irreverence in it." whereas what Tyley Ross say "With modern recording technology and a wide variety of musical styles at our disposal, our goal has been to approach these songs the way we feel the composers would were they alive today", has proved the charm and life dissolved somewhere in the musical opera of EVOC.

Recently Keyboardist Peter Kiesewalter & impassionate female vocalist AnnMarie Milazzo, performed at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, 2006. Their performance made the audience' live with music and breath with it.
