1946 born Edgar Winter is an American musician who is a native of Beaumont and the founder of Edgar Winter Band. Expert of a variety of musical instruments, Edgar proved his talent from the young age only.

He is a gifted musician with intense interest in jazz, pop and R&B. After attaining a proficiency by the adulthood Edgar left Texas and traveled to New York to explore his luck and talent with his brother Johny Winter's group. His excellent performance of "Tobacco Road" lead him as a brilliant musician and drawed him the attention of many record labels. In 1970, his debut album "Entrance" , with Epic Records which inspired by his jazz influences was heavily publicized and attained a eminent success for him. It made Edgar recognized at national level. After this grand album he formed a group called White Trash and was joined by his friend Jerry La Croix and many other musicians of Texas and Louisiana. After doing many albums including gold double live album "Road Work" , this group broke up.

In 1972 along with Dan Hartman, Ronnie Montrose and Chuck Ruff, he founded the Edgar Winter Band. This band gave him the biggest successes in his whole career. His albums included " They Only Come Out at Night", "Shock Treatment". The songs of these albums reached at the tops of the ranking in U.S. Another albums with vocals of Edgar Winter "Jasmine NightDreams" which was a solo album and "Shock Treatment" featuring Guitarist Rick Derringer. In 1990, Edgar determined to record a concert album"Live in Japan" with the reunion with Rick Derringer. In addition to this, Edgar appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show, "Midnight Hour", "Into the Night" with Rick Dees & "Late Night" with David Letterman. By that time he recorded one more album "Mission Earth". Edgar's proficiency in saxophone, keyboards led him on the path of success with his every new album and show. His live shows and increasing fan base added the ease to his destination. With Edgar Winter Blues band his performance in Australia and New Zealand won him the heart of audience'. Later in 1993 he shared the stage with actors like Poco, Steppenwolf and Dave Mason during "Grand Slam Tour".

Edgar re-recorded his ever super hit song"Free Ride" for the film "Air America" and "Frankenstein" for the paramount release "Wayne's World 2". "Free Ride" is featured on all of the new Buick Regal commercials, Clariton spots, and Burger King television ads. Many of the Edgar's song have been featured in movies. List is long for the songs and his successes. In his musical career of more than 20 years he has recorded more than 20 records. The band members of the Edgar Winter Band include Edgar Winter as the lead vocal, keyboard, synthesizer and saxophone player, Doug Rappoport, the lead guitarist, Mark Meadows as the bassist and guitarist who joined the band in 2002, Mike Leasure, Drummer and percussion player. Dave Lopez is the Tour manager of the band as well as the Front of House Engineer. In 2006,the Edgar Winter and will be touring throughout the U.S. The band always plays the classics like "Love Light", "Free Ride", Frankenstein", "Tobacco Road" but make perform others too depending on the sentiments of the audience'. His latest album 'Winter Blues" is a combination of his earlier rhythms with new innovations and heartfelt beats and it will definitely explore the new avenues.
