Native of Puerto Rico, Ponce, Ednita Nazario was born on 11 April 1955. She is a reputed singer as well as an actress. With a start of her career from a very youn age, Ednita went on stage live to sing in a show dedicated to popular singers of that time. She earned a doll for efforts and a chance to record, releasing "Mi amor lolipop" in 1966. By the influence of her sensuality and enduranceshe is called as the "Latin Diva". In 1970 she started her own band "The Kids from Ponce" and attained enormous success by numerous shows. The band got famous in local public and appeared at many TV shows. In 1973 she released her debut album "Al fin. Ednita" after performing in night clubs, radio and television. She was also titled as "Miss Teenage Puerto Rice". She hosted many international stars including Liza Minnelli, Tommy Dorsey, Charles Aznavour, Morey Amsterdam and Oscar-winning Puerto Rican actor José Ferrer. Ferror was astonished by the reception of her shows and craze of people towards her. She was even requested by the Royal Family to perform at the famous casino of Monaco.
Nazario signed the deal with the Borinquen record label and launched a trail of successful recordings. Her hits included "Me está gustando", "Vete, vete", "Abrázame", "Lo siento ahora" that gathered a big success across the Island. Nazario lauched perhaps her best album "Mujer Sola" in 1978.

"Encuentro", "Mío" and "Estoy bien junto a ti" were proved to be the breaking hits of this release presenting her growing maturity and skill.Nazario broke up with Borinquen and signed with Ariola which produced her debut rock/pop album " Retrato de Mujer", bearing the smash hit songs "Mi mente. en mi cuerpo", "Mañana" and "No me dejes no". The song "Cadenas de fuego" that was sung by Nazaria at the OTI festival, was distributed in both English and Spanish language versions. This song did not earn her first prize at the festival, but soon in the next year she bagged first prize as composer for the song "Contigo Mujer", sung by Rafael José. Nazaria changed many record companies in 80's but theme song for Puerto Rican soap opera, "Coralito" seemed to be possibly her biggest hit. The song was a mega hit that was broadcast throughout Latin America.

Another hit ballad, "Tú sin mí" by Nazaria earned her great success in 1986. "Alma de gitana", "Fuerza de gravedad", "El dolor de tu presencia", "Aprenderé", "Que me ame más", and "Mi corazón tiene miente propia", became the the songs of her hit list by the end of decade. In 1990's she locked the position of the leading lady in ballads. Ednita's one of most acclaimed albums to date "Fuerza De Gravedad" was released in 1991. This album gave the tinge of her recent marriage and motherhood reflecting her maturity in the songs. Nazaria refocused in her career and released Metamorfosis in 1992 after the disgraceful breakup from her husband.
