Whenever one hears the word Elvis the first thing strikes the mind is Elvis Presley but now people counter question as there are two people having Elvis as their initial. That is Elvis Crespo the Puerto Rican Merengue singer. Elvis Crespo was born on 30th July 1971 in New York. His parents were big fan of Elvis Presley that's why he was named as Elvis Crespo. But in his childhood he and his mother shifted their base to Caguas, Puerto Rico. In Caguas, he spent his childhood and emerged as a pop idol in merengue music. This New York-born and Puerto Rico-raised vocalist is termed as a master of the Dominican Republic's merengue tradition. After his parents divorce he stayed with his mom in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He was inclined to music from his childhood and began his career in 1988 as a member of the Willie Berrios Orchestra. Therein he spent two years with the Lenny Perez Orchestra and another six years with the Tono Rosario Orchestra.

In 1994 he left the Rosario's group and attended the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico studying business administration. But soon he got the tempting invitation to join Grupo Mania which he wasn't able to resist. Thus, he joined the Latin band and wrote and sang on their hit, "Linda Es". But pursuing his solo career he left the band after three years and geared up for his debut album. In 1998 he released his debut album titling "Suavemente" which climbed the top slot on Billboard's "National Hot Latin" Top 40. Then he also gave two hit numbers that is "Tu Sonrisa" and the title track which won him the Billboard awards for "Latin album of the year," "male artist of the year," "group or duet of the year," and "song of the year". Having the hit solo career he decided to tour various cities popularizing his voice and music. And all he shows were complete sold out.

Seeing his stupendous success various artists decided to go for a change and started singing in Latin and Spanish lyrics. But no one was able to match his standards. All his songs either in Spanish or Latin were a smash hit especially the 2005's hit Spanglish version of his hit song "Suavemente". This song was also used as the soundtrack of the U.S. film Dance with Me. He carried the success further by releasing his third solo album titled "Wow Flash" on Sony Music. Lately in 2005 he converted into Christianity and currently he is preparing for his new album which is soon slated to release. In the mean time he is touring your city then simply book your tickets and enjoy his memorable performance.
