Eric Clapton hit the mainstream music scene in mid-1970, but he was already a huge star. Before pursuing a solo career, he was associated with some popular acts like, Cream, the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and Blind Faith. Because of his superb performance as a guitarist, he is undoubtedly acclaimed as the best rock guitarist of his vast generation.
His maiden release could yield Top 40 hit, "After Midnight." Well, his debut album reflected self-effacing approach. Later on, this album was featured in, Delaney & Bonnie & Friends.
Before hitting the roads as a solo artist, Eric had performed with Derek and the Dominos and D&B&F ranks. During 1971 and 1972, Eric was inactive, so he could not perform anywhere. In 1973, he performed in the Rainbow Concert in London.
In 1974, he issued his "461 Ocean Boulevard." This album went on to hit the popular music charts and ultimately yielded the hugely popular number one hit single "I Shot the Sheriff."
Because of his diligent efforts, Clapton evolved into a dynamic performer and consequently established himself. In 1975, he issued his next album, "One in Every Crowd." This was followed by "Live E.C. Was Here" in 1975 and "No Reason to Cry" in 1976.
His next album, "But Slowhand" was issued in 1977, this album featured some smash hits like "Cocaine," "Wonderful Tonight," and "Lay Down Sally;" this album was a million-seller. This was followed up by "Backless" in 1978. This release featured the top ten hits "Promises." This was followed by the string of hit albums. In 1983, he issued "Money and Cigarettes," followed by "Behind the Sun" in 1985, and "August" in 1986.
Then his career went through a slump period. In 1991, he issued a live album, "24 Nights." In 1992, he recorded a concert for MTV Unplugged. This album released in the midst of 1992 and went on to become his best-selling album ever. Once again, he hit the music stores with "From the Cradle" which went on to become his most successful album.
In 1997, he issued his next album, "Retail Therapy." In the spring of 1998, he issued his next album, "Pilgrim." This album went on to become a Top ten hit. In 2000, he worked up with his old friend BB King and issued "Riding With the King." Early in 2001, he issued his next album, "Reptile." In 2004, he issued "Me and Mr. Johnson."
