Originated in 1986, Faster Pussycat is a hard rock band founded by Taime Downe and Mick Cripps along with Paul Black, It was formed in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The band's name was derived from the name of 1965 film "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!." The most successful time of this band was late 1980s with their albums "Faster Pussycat" and 1989 gold album "Wake Me When It's Over" giving rise to their biggest hit "House of Pain".

After lots of changes in members, once the group stabilized and comprised Taime Downe (vocals), Greg Steele (guitar), Brent Muscat (guitar), Kelly Nickels (bass) and Mark Michals (drums). This team has resulted into the most well-known and classic line-up. Faster Pussycat's music is inspired by various themes of music like rock, punk and glam groups; the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Sex Pistols, New York Dolls and others. Nickels left the band before recording its debut and was replaced by Eric Stacy (ex-Champagne).

Their first album "faster Pussycat" was released with the release of "Appetite for Destruction" by Guns N' Roses. They both toured UK together in 1987. To overcome the overshadowing by Gun N' Roses, they put out many promotional videos from the first album for songs such as "Cathouse", "Bathroom Wall" and "Don't Change That Song". The band toured US with Alice Cooper, David Lee Roth and Motörhead to support their debut. After two years, band released their most successful album "Wake Me When It's Over" receiving the gold status. The major success credited to the hit single "House of Pain". Music videos were also produced for "House of Pain" and "Poison Ivy". While being on tour in 1990, Drummer Mark Michals was kicked out of the band when he was arrested in case of drug traffic. Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot filled in as drummer for the remainder of the tour, before Brett Bradshaw became Faster Pussycat's new long-term drummer.

The band recorded a cover of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" for a compilation called "Rubaiyat: Elektra's 40th Anniversary" in 1990. The third album "Whipped!" had emotional darker themes than their previous efforts, without losing their trademark sound. Not much success was gathered by the album though promotional videos "Body Thief" and "Nonstop To Nowhere" were released. The band broke up after getting dropped by Elektra Reords in 1992. he group members went their ways after the broke up of band. In 2001, Faster Pussycat was reformed by its former members including Taime Downe, Brent Muscat, Greg Steele, alongside Taime's former Newly deads band mates Xristian Simon , Danny Nordahl, and Chad Stewart.

The same year, band released a remix compilation "Between the Valley of the Ultra Pussy" featuring industrial rock remixes of their classic tracks, along with a bonus cover of KISS' "I Was Made For Loving You". It didn't have a favorable effect on the fanbase and divided it as many of the band's older fan base who enjoyed standard hard rock, were not familiar with industrial rock. Arrival and quittal of the band members kept on going with time. The current status of the members include Taime Downe - vocals, Xristian Simon - guitars, Michael Thomas - guitars, Danny Nordahl - bass, Chad Stewart - drums. In the meantime, two new tracks "Number One With A Bullet" and a cover of "These Boots Were Made For Walking" were put up for listening via "myspace" website. These tracks were preview's for the album "The Power And The Glory Hole" which was released on July 13, 2006 which was the first release in 14 years. This release is a return to the previous and loved hard rock based sound. The band is going for a tour to Uk very soon in September 2006.
