Fenix TX is an American pop punk band. In fact, it is a four-piece pop punk band. The band was formed in 1995 in Houston, Texas. The original name of the band was Riverfenix. Guitarist Damon DeLaPaz and Will Salazar
and singer Carl were the founding members of the band. However, Carl didn't stay long with the band. Following Carl's departure drummer Donnie Reyes and bassist Adam Lewis were recruited. Salazar had to take additional duties of vocals. The four members of the band concentrated on their music heart and soul and began to perform on the Texan pop punk scene. Other renowned bands like Good Riddance, Goldfinger and 30football became their colleagues and all of them used to perform at various concerts all across the country together. Perhaps that was the reason people in large numbers came to see their concerts. Their fan base used to be piling up in a constant manner. Fenix TX released their debut EP "G.B.O.H." in 1996 under the famous Fuzzgun records. The band then went on an extensive nationwide tour with Cousin Oliver, Home Grown and The Hippops. In the mean time Fenix TX distributed their demo copies to many record labels. Mojo Records was impressed with the band's performance but because of indecision and procrastination, their collaborative effort didn't become fruitful. However, Richard and Stefanie Reines, the two Mojo interns were all set to start their own record label entitles Drive-Thru Records. As their earlier venture with Fenix TX didn't work, they signed up Fenix TX as their first recording band.
Fenix TX's full-length debut album "Riverfenix" was released in 1997 under the Drive-Thru Records. The album included 13 mesmerizing tracks. Within the following year, the album "Riverfenix" managed to sell out a huge number of copies. That was indeed a great achievement for the band. The band then got the opportunity to book a berth for the upcoming blink-182 tour.
The band's recording label Drive-Thru records settled a distribution record with MCA and subsequently the band had to quit "River" from their name. Instead, they appended Texas' postal abbreviation. Thus, the band became Fenix*TX from Riverfenix. The band re-recorded some of their previously unreleased tracks under MCA and released them on an album entitled "Fenix*TX" on July 13, 1999. The album broke many records and made its entry on the Billboard 200 as well as Billboard's Top Heatseekers. The singe "All my Fault" became a huge hit and got extensive radio and TV airplay. The band got the chance to perform "All my Fault" in the TV movie "Jailbait" which was aired in 2000. "Jailbait" also got a cameo appearce by Fenix*TX.
"Lechuza", the second full-length album of Fenix TX was released in 2001. In 2005, Fenix TX also released a live album entitled "Purple Reign in Blood".
