Grab your Reeboks and your tickets to see one of the hottest rap outfits on the planet, headed by one of the most famous and well known faces in the music industry- get your tickets to see 50 Cent and his posse G-Unit get down and dirty in concert. After gaining a mind blowing fan following on the underground music scene, G-Unit was poised to take the mainstream music industry by storm and that is precisely what they did.

G-Unit was formed by well known rap artist 50 Cent who rose to fame with his hooky single 'Da Club', a number that got him recognized in places as far flung as Sri Lanka and Nigeria. Apart from carving a huge niche for himself as a recording artist, 50 Cent has also concentrated a lot on G-Unit- the boys are present in all of 50 Cent's videos and the name is prominently displayed as a back drop or decked out in high level bling.

G-Unit came together when 50 Cent officially left Columbia Records and decided to embark on a project that would involve making jams with his neighborhood friends, particularly Tony Yayo, Domination, Bang 'Em Smurf and Lloyd Banks. The project looked like it would take shape but after signing on to Interscope Records, Bang 'Em Smurf was arrested on a weapons charge and 50 Cent refused to post bail. This led to conflict within the group, resulting in Domination and Bang 'Em Smurf leaving the group. Nashville rapper Young Buck was called in to round out the group and G-Unit was formally born. Songstress Olivia also appears as the first lady of the G-Unit.

The story of G-Unit so far has been a mixed bag- on the positive side the group has made a huge impression on the music industry, has had a number of hit singles and has worked with some of the biggest names in the hip hop industry. The band also has its own brand of clothing, a record label and a specific line of sneakers with Reebok. However the group is also involved with a number of feuds with rappers like The Game, Fat Joe, Cassidy, D-Block and formerly Ja Rule. Oftentimes this has led to run-ins with the law and violence, particularly after awards shows and performances.

Regardless of their problems, the members of G-Unit have managed to make good music together and have gone on to do some great solo work as well.
