Gary Numan is considered to be the creator of synth pop. He grabbed tremendous popularity in the music industry and till date is known for his popular number "Cars" which was rocking hit all across America. Numan is also considered to be the king of pop music at the time he was in UK in the era of '80s.

He was born with an original name of Gary Anthony Janmes Webb on March 8, 1958, in the west London, Hammersmith. At an early age Numan started playing guitar which he mastered by the time he reached his teens. Gary also performed in several bands when he was in his school. However, the real break came up when he joined a punk group named as Lasers in 1976. But, soon he broke off with his partner, bassist Paul Gardinar to form a brand new band Tubeway Army. This was formed with the collaborative efforts of drummer Bob Simmonds, with whom he recorded several mind blowing singles. He also appeared on a TV commercial jingle , soon after which came up band's deut album "Tubeway Army." The album was a major success which paved his way towards stardom.

With a passage of time, the crew became a popular one as they released their second album "Gary Numan & Tubeway Army" in the beginning of 1979. The album comprised of hit singles such as "Are 'Friends' Electric?" which was a super-duper hit and reached at the top most position on the UK music charts. Another song which became popular was "Down in the Park" which is considered as one of the best song Numan has ever produced.
