George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic are referred to each other for their long-lasting bond. Parliament-Funkadelic is a Funk band headed by George Clinton. Born on July 22, 1941, George Clinton is an American musician. In addition to being a superb solo artist , he has been the mastermind after Parliament and Funkadelic. He has been the main driving force to run the P-Funk sound of the band. He has been known for his social awareness taking African-American popular music to new heights of political outspokenness making it famous in public, handling tough times like Vietnam War and the War on Drugs with intelligence and awareness. Parliament-Funkadelic band is comprised to two bands with same members but recording or different labels. They are specialized in P-Funk. This band had been among top ten hits in the UD music charts from 1967-1983.

The band was formed in 1956 in Plainfield by its founder members including George Clinton, Clarence "Fuzzy" Haskins, Calvin Simon, Ray "Stingray" Davis, and Grady Thomas. They took their name from Parliament cigarettes getting inspired by them. In 1964, George added a backing band too with Boyce brothers and Langston Booth. The band faced a tough time in 1960s as the their energy didn't bring the desired outcome and they ended up recording only a few singles for a relatively minor label Revilot Records. Though they gave a hit in 1967 with 'I Wanna Testify' but still fame was quite far. George wrote songs for several established Motown acts whereas other members too, going for their solo ventures in the meantime. In late 1960s, Revilot took the name, The Parliaments with it. George took the backing band to the forefront now. It was the rise of The Funkadelics. When Boyce brothers and Booth were sent to the Vietnam war , a new band was formed. After realizing the effect of Vietnam war on their friends, they gave two breaking Records "Come In Out The Rain and "March To The Witch's Castle". The sound was nurturing a blend of psychedelic rock/R&B, and a purified, raw Funk music essence. In 1970, the band recorded the underground classic album "Funkadelic". 1971, Entry of master keyboardist Bernie Worrell from Plainfield gave a complete new turn to the band's sound into Gothic finkiness. Many members left the band in subsequent year and then the band was refined again by the arrival of Collins brother who developed the P-Funk sound to a larger extent.

New arrivals carried on joining the band despite some disputes in old members and some hits including "Osmium" in 1970. The band's sound kept on changing with new horizons and turns including classic, gothic to jazzy dimension in the music.

In 1976, "The Mothership Connection" was released by Parliament which became Parliment's first LP to go gold and platinum. Another grand success of Parliament was "Flashlight" from the album "Funkentelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome". Clinton had signed Parliament to Casablanca Records. In 1976 he moved Funkadelic from Westbound to Warner Brothers, angering some of the original members. In the meantime, George arranged a stage show, which was called Parliament's "Earth Tour" comprising most of the elements of the P-Funk mythology. Before touring, the band had well known Newburgh sessions of dress rehearsals which have gone down in history as the 'holy grail' for P Funk fans.

Following lots of angering times, disputes and disagreements, the P Funk mob began to splinter, and their foundation started to crumble. Parliament's final album - Trombipulation - came out in 1980, and Funkadelic's - The Electric Spanking Of War Babies in 1981. Despite facing financial problems, George kept on recording in 80s'. The remaining Funk Mob Gave a hit album "Computer Games" in 1982 followed by the formation of "The P Funk All Stars" by George, who went on to record "Urban Dancefloor Guerillas" and "Dope Dogs" in 1983 and toured regularly throughout the rest of the 1980s. In 1994, the group toured with Lollapalooza. They released "T.A.P.O.A.F.O.M." but it didn't work because of leagal issues. In the meatime, the band restored their original members resolving the disputes along with the new talents. In 2002, Bootsy released "Play With Bootsy".

Clinton released the latest P Funk All Stars album "How Late Do You Have 2BB4UR Absent?". Featuring the revival of a whole new generation of the P-FUNK. Making another extraction from the current P Funk is "Children Of Production" featuring Kendra Foster and Shondra, Clinton has released a self-titled album of funk and hip hop for 2006.

Though so many disputes and problems raised in the band but still it didn't lose its energy and perfect sound of music. It has completed a four-date tour of the United Kingdom in July 2006. The band had performed in Gateshead, Manchester and Hammersmith in London.
