George Clooney is a versatile personality being an Academy Award-winning American actor, director, producer and screenwriter. Born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. Clooney is famous for his role in the first five seasons of the long-running television drama ER. He has balanced his cinematic career doing big-budget blockbusters with more average budgeted films on serious topics as well as more commercially-risky projects, while expanding his prominence as a producer. Many of the critics and fans call him one of the last true Matinee idols in the ancient film world tomorrow. Clooney struggled a lot in the beginning of his career in Los Angels. He played one of the major role in the in the television medical comedy/drama, E/R. Additionally, he played a handyman on the series "The Facts of Life". Clooney attained his real stardom after acting as Dr. Doug Ross on the NBC hit drama ER.

Clooney has co-written "Good Night", and "Good Luck" together with his close friend & frequent collaborator Grant Heslov. Grant Heslov is also the president of Section 8 Entertainment, Clooney's and director Steven Soderbergh's production company. Clooney said in an interview that he was driving an RV through the country with Heslov, (who was getting over a broken engagement), when he got a phone call from his agent telling him that NBC just picked up RE for a full season. Clooney said, "I think I just got my career."
Clooney played various roles in movie from "From Dusk Till Dawn" in 1996, "One Fine Day" in 1996, "Batman & Robin" in 1997 to "Intolerable Cruelty" in 2003, and "Ocean's Twelve" in 2004 along with some guest appearances on sitcoms such as "Roseanne and Friends". With "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" in 2002, he started his career in direction. This movie was an adaptation of the autobiography of TV producer Chuck Barris.

On January 31, Clooney was nominated for the Academy Awards for Achievement in Directing and Original Screenplay for Good Night, and Good Luck. Not only this but he was also nominated for Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role for "Syriana". Clooney has become the first person in Oscar history who has been nominated for directing one movie and acting in another in the same year. In addition these honors, British Academy of Film and Television Arts BAFTA also nominated Clooney David Lean Award for Achievement in Directing Good Night, and Good Luck. His awesome performance as Bob Barnes in Syriana earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Clooney is well planned to devote his enthuse in directing. He will be appearing in "The good German" which is directed by frequent collaborator Steven Soderbergh.

While working in film "Syriana" in 2005, Clooney met an accident severely followed by spinal problems, memory loss, daily headaches. After several surgeries to bolt his spine with plastic bolts, finally he is recovered and fine now. Clooney's new ventures involve "Michael Clayton" which is produced by him and to be released early 2007, "Ocean's Thirteen" in 2007, "Hail Caesar" in 2007.
