Ice Cube is considered to be the very first member of the seminal Californian rap band N.W.A and was also the first one to leave. But, soon he developed himself as one of the most proficient artists honing his potential in the hip-hop industry. Initially he fell prey to a controversial issue because of his profane and political rhymes. He was born as O'Shea Jackson and had an inclination towards music right from his childhood.
But, astonishingly despite of having such a controversial figure, his childhood was a very simple one .It is meant that he never acquired any bad habits like that of drugs or indulged with any kind of gang. Also to be notice over here is that he was never involved with other anti-social elements for which the black community guys are often recognized for. Ice Cube had a very simple family background with both the parents working at UCLA. However, he came into the scene with b-boy culture at the time he was in his late teens. O'Shea had an excellent rap writing skills which he possessed at the time he was in his high school. He even wrote a popular number "Boyz-n-the Hood" during this time and got along with his partner Sir Jinx also called as CIA to form a rap pair and performed at several parties which were hosted by Dr. Dre.
Over here he came across Easy E who was leading a band called HBO. Eventually, Cube, Easy and Dre decided to get together to form their first incarnation of NWA. In the year of 1987, Cube went to Pheonix, Arizonia to pursue his studies in architectural drafting, but returned back the same year for the release of his first album "Straight Outta Compton." The album became a smashing hit and paved his way to continue his career in the mainstream music industry. This particular album was released in the year of 1989, and gained him a widespread popularity.
Their band NWA was now into the face-to-face bonding with the band Public Enemy which was again a controversial band in the hip-hop industry. However, he could not get along with group for a longer time and therefore his band broke their partnership with Public Enemy by the fall of 1989. The band's next step was to return to New York over where they met de Lench Mob and recorded their first album under the production team of ex-rivals Public Enemy. "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" was their debut release which came up in the of 1990, and was a huge hit that rocked the audience throughout the world. The album went gold withing two weeks of its release, selling innumerable number of copies in the market.
As Ice Cube was an established solo artist, he formed his independent corporation which was headed by a woman. In the 1990, an EP was released titled "Kill at Will," followed by Yo Yo's debut album "Make Way for the Motherlode." Apart from all this, he also made an appearance as an actor in Singloton's popular drama, "Boyz 'n the Hood." However, his performance was praised tremendously by thousands of audiences.
The full-length release of yet another debut album "Death Certificate" took him out of all the controversial issues, because of which he had to suffer a bit. But, this album produced all the more spark in the society because of its strong political and vulgar elements in the year of 1991. The single "No Vaseline" threw arrows on NWA manager Jerry Heller. But, even with hard and strong criticisms, no one could stop the album to go platinum and attaining a number two position. In 1992, he also went on touring with Lollapolooza. Other popping up events were when he converted to the Nation of Islam in 1992. His album "Predator" showcased all the elements related to his inclination towards Islam. This particular album is considered to be Cube's first debut album that grabbed the number one position on both R&B as well as on Pop charts.
But, with time his priorities changed as he started concentrating more on the acting career, and began working towards it. With this, his popularity amongst fans all across the world started diminishing. The release of "Lethal Injection" proved to be his last official release which came up in the year 1993. This album again marked a history as it went platinum acquiring the number five position on the top musical charts.
In 1997, Cube appeared in the famous movie "Anaconda" which was a scintillating hit of the year. The year 1998, released came up with "War & Peace, Vol 1" which was followed by its sequel, "The Peace Disc" which came up after two years.
