Indigo girls were one of those female artists who sustained their existence at the time when other artist failed to stay in the industry. The two sisters were the famous pair of folk singing in the period of late 80's. If on one hand Emily Saliers was a complex music singer showcasing her gentle but, yet promising vocals, then on the other hand her sister Amy Ray was more inclined towards punk-rock. Her inspiration came from the popular groups like the Jam, the Pretenders, and the Husker Du. B-Band was their second name under which they performed several times. The album however, could not generate much of an action amongst the crowd. It could jut manage to sell nearly 7,000 copies.

But, soon things turned on positive for the star sisters after the release of their debut album. The year 1988, saw the release of some the all time hit albums which included "Suzanne Vega," "Tracy Chapman," and "10,000 Maniacs" which proved to be quite successful for the two. It was at this time they got an opportunity to sign a record deal with the Epic Records, which they signed without giving it a second thought.
