The Instant Clown Posse or the ICP is a rap group. It initially comprised of Violent J and Shaggy2Dope.Their performances are marked by the very different black and white makeup that they use for their shows. Their first form was named as the JJ Boys which was made up of Violent J,Shaggy2Dope and John Utsler. Violent J is an extremely talented guitar player with John on the drums. The name of the band was later changed to "Inner City Posse" and had the trio Violent J, Shaggy2Dope and John Kickchazz. They came out with the rap albums Bassment Cuts and Dog Beats. With Kickchazz leaving the group the two brought in Kalyn Garcia to complete the threesome. With Kalyn Garcia leaving the group they returned to the duo combination and have since continued to be so.

In the year 1992,The Instant Clown Posse released their first album "Carnival of Carnage" they named it as The first Joker's Card. This was the first in a series of six. Their songs typically speak of death and after life. A band with a style of its own it seemed to be the only one of its kind spreading an element of mystery and drama. Each of the Joker's cards revealed a different aspect of things talking of life , death, sins and punishment for your sins.

The other albums released were "The Ringmaster" in the year 1994, followed by "The Riddlebox " in 1995. !997 saw the release of "The Great Milenko"."The Amazing Jeckel Brothers" in the year 1999 also dealt with mysterious surroundings and death. The sixth joker's card had two versions. It was named "The Wraith" meaning Death and had two versions namely "The Wraith: Shangri-La(Heaven)" and "The Wraith: Hell's Pit(Hell).The Instant Clown Posse seemed to be a group obsessed with ideas of death and life after death.

The Instant Clown Posse has a very loyal fan following who don't miss any of their concerts. The fans of this group are called "The Juggalos" and are very strong supporters of the group. The female fans are sometimes referred to as "Juggalettes"( although "Juggalo" is a common term used for both male and female fans). A distinct feature of their concerts is that most of the hardcore Juggalos come with their faces painted like their rap idols Violent J and Shaggy.
