J. Mascis is a very talented musician from United States of America. Mascis is a multi talented artist being a singer, songwriter and guitarist. Mascis being such a great artist obviously have a large fan following behind him.

J Mascis born on 10th December, 1965 has formed number of bands and have been an active member of them. He has also produced and composed films. In the start of 1980's Mascis along with two of his college mates Scott Helland and Lou Barlow founded a hardcore band Deep Wound. However Deep Wound did not last for long. Mascis first used to play drums and later became a guitarist. In 1984 came the very successful band
Dinosaur Jr. The founder of band was Mascis with Patrick "Murph" Murphy on drums and bassist Barlow while Mascis played the role of guitarist for the group. The guitar riffs of Mascis are characterized as monolithic. In 1989 Barlow was fired by him from Dinosaur Jr.. After his departure Mascis recorded number of albums for the band. In 1996 his solo album entitled ' Martin & Me ' was released. He was also seen in the film "Grace of my Heart" in a small role. For the soundtrack Mascis also gave a Beach Boys type song and a ballad.

In 2000 J Mascis founded his own band called J Mascis and the Fog. In Amherst he formed Bob's Place his own home studio. The first album of J Mascis and the Fog was titled 'More Light'. For the album he signed with
Artemis Records. "Amma Ring", was one of the important track on 'More Light'. He has been on tour to many countries like Australia, Japan and Europe.
J Mascis in the April 2005 once again got associated with the original members of Dinosaur Jr. Murph and
Barlow. The group again released three albums of the band and embarked on a tour.

Same year Mascis contributed in albums of Mew a Danish band. He gave backing vocals and vocals for two of their songs An Envoy to the Open Fields and Why Are You Looking Grave? respectively. These songs were then released on an album titled 'And the Glass Handed Kites' of the band.

In 2006 J Mascis formed another heavy metal group. The band was named Witch. The first album of the band is self titled album 'Witch' for which Mascis again played drums.
