Jakalope was formed in 2003. Its founder is Dave "Rave" Ogilvie a very famous producer and industrial musician of Canada. He has worked with number of noted acts like Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, and Marilyn Manson. The band is named after the fictional animal called jackalope.
Jakalope has a constant rotating line up. However the most important members are Phil Caivano, Sean Stubbs, Katie B, Trent Reznor, Matt Warhurst, Anthony Valcic and The Three Dons Don Short, Don Binns and Don Harrison.

Dave Ogilvie was the in charge of the open-concept project Jakalope in 2003. He wanted to start a group with a fresh genre of music having roots in industrial music. At the same time he also wanted it to be between melodic pop and searing rock. During this time he came to know about Katie B's vocal stylings. Katie was working at The Warehouse Studio of Bryan Adams in Vancouver. Dave Ogilvie impressed by her talent and Katie became one of the most important member of Jakalope.

Jakalope in 2004 relased their first album entitled ' It Dreams'. The album was contributed by number of other great artist like Kat Bjelland , Trent Reznor and members of Malhavoc, Sloan, and Monster Magnet. Trent Reznor was not only involved in instrumentation ad writing songs but also in the production work. The album was also released in Japan on 20th July, 2005. ' It Dreams' contained hit numbers like Feel It, Pretty Life, Go Away with their videos being equally successful. The other melodious numbers in the album were Screecher, House of Ill Trepidation, Light After Night, Badream, Come On, Creeper, Nothing Nowhere, Don't Cry and
Tell Me Why.

The second album of Jakalope released in 2006 in Japan and Canada titled 'Born 4'. The album released on 7th June, 2006 in Japan. However in the March of 2006 the first number of 'Born 4', Upside Down (and I Fall) had a radio release. The number also had a video. There were several outstanding guests artist of many other bands for the album like Bob Pantella of Monster Magnet, Rush member Alex Lifeson, Thom D'arcy of Small Sins, Bill Rieflin, Allie Sheldan and Jeremy Fisher. The album was co-produced by Trent Reznor. 'Born 4' has fourteen songs Forecast 42, Something New, Throw It Away, Anthem 2, Intervention, Get It Back, Unsaid , Pretty Life, Upside Down, Digging Deep, Code 4 Love, Star 24, Buried, and Instigator.

Jakalope opened for Degrassi: The Next Generation. The two numbers Feel It and that number featured in the soundtrack of the television show.

Although Jakalope is not a very old industrial pop band. But it cannot be denied that it is an ensemble of some very talented and good musicians. The albums of Jakalope have been contributed by some very great guest musicians make their music only more melodious and riveting.
