Some critics choose to pass off Jamiroquai as a Stevie Wonder-clone, but the critics be dammed, the band has gone on to amass a steady stream of hits in its native U.K experiencing chart success the world over with its irresistible blend of house rhythms and '70s-era soul/funk. Though the band has gone though several changes in its lineup during their career, but through it all their leader singer/songwriter Jason Kay (aka J.K.) has remained rock solid. This highly popular band will now be in action at a venue near you, and you will do nothing better than buying tickets to their performance.

Jas kay was born on December 30, 1969, in Stretford, Manchester to his jazz singer mother who was a regular performer at nightclubs. His teenage years were very difficult and saw him leaving home at the age of 15, and also landing up in trouble with the law (by committing petty crimes to get by). His life then was akin to a hollywood movie with a near-death experience (where he was attacked and stabbed) and an arrest for a crime he did not commit, thrown in; all this prompted Kay to return home, and pursue a legitimate career over crime: music. Though Kay didn't have a band to back up his compositions, but he nevertheless came up with his future project's name, Jamiroquai, a name that was a combination of a Native American tribe (the Iroquois) along with the music-based word, jam.

Kay's home demos, were so good that they caught the attention of the record label Acid Jazz, and in late 1992 release Jamiroquai's debut single "When You Gonna Learn?" But this was not Kay's effort but was a result of the help he received from a group , which incidentally was the best line up Jamiroquai ever had which included vibraphonist Wallis Buchanan, bassist Stuart Zender, keyboard player, and drummer Derrick McKenzie , the single was a success; this was soon followed by a lucrative and long-term recording contract with Sony. 'Emergency on Planet Earth', Jamiroquai's full-length debut, was released in 1993 and became a massive hit in their native England also becoming a chart buster with singles like "Blow Your Mind" "Too Young to Die." The band's second release, The Return of the Space Cowboy in 1995, managed to steer Jamiroquai steered clear of the sophomore jinx, in The band's second release, The Return of the Space Cowboy in 1995 a malady that had affected a large umber of up-and-coming bands; album also had the distinction of out-selling its predecessor in Europe and whats more , was sizable hit in Japan as well.

The world was dancing to Jamiroquai's beat and America was next in line as the target for Jamiroquais music and the band's third effort Traveling Without Moving, released in 1996 striking gold in America. The album produced the worldwide hit "Virtual Insanity," and its award-winning video helped the album earn platinum status in the States by the year's end. A long hitus followed the release of this album, a period in which Jamiroquai , were famous for some activities comepletely un related to music . The period between 2003 and 2005 was spent gathering material for a sixth studio album. Dynamite, which was finally released to much popular acclaim in 2005; interestingly the album was written and recorded in Spain, Italy, Costa Rica, Scotland, New York, Los Angeles and Jamiroquai's own studio in Buckingham. The band is now in the new for its music and has announced its tour dates. So look up the schedule and buy your tickets to the performance of a life time. Go watch Jamiroquai Live!
