Janeane Garofalo studied history at Providence College. While at college she was named "Funniest Person in Rhode Island when she took part in a talent search organized by Showtime cable network. After completing her studies she became a professional stand-up comedian. In the late 1980s Janeane Garofalo began her career as stand-up comedian.
