Jars of Clay are considered to be one of the split up bands of the '90s CCM movement. They emerged as the popular band with the release of their debut hit single "Flood" which helped them gain popularity all across the nation. Jars Of Clay established themselves in the mainstream music industry in the period of '90s.

The band was formed in the year of 1993, at the Illinois' Greenville College. Band members included singer/songwriter Dan Haseltine, Charlie Lowell on keyboards, and guitarist Stephen Mason who was added to the group later on. The trio were one of the music genius in their college' newly formed CCM department. Initially they sung in their college just for fun, and therefore, selected the band's name from the second book of Corinthians, which symbolizes God's created vessels for the human spirits.

After this there was no looking back as the trio took music seriously and started working towards it. Infact, luck favored them as the band got an offer from a small label titled Essential Records, for which they signed a deal. This label was working under its parent company named as Silvertone.

However, the band released several albums after this. Amongst many few of them are "Jars Of Clay" which was released in the year of 1995, followed by "Much Afraid" which appeared in 1997. Both of them proved to be considerable hit albums, which led them to move and flourish their music career.

The band has made several tours nationally as well as internationally, giving them international recognition.
