John Legend was born John Stephen, was child prodigy, who grew up in Ohio. His formative years were spent playing piano and singing gospel at the tender age of 5. His move from Ohio to Philadelphia at 16 to pursue college studies saw him playing to a larger audience. His incredible talents saw him being tapped to play piano on "Everything is Everything" for Lauryn Hill in 1998. He shifted base to New York once he completed his college and this move was instrumental in putting his musical career into high gear. His stint at nightclubs, built up a loyal fan following which further increased when he release CDs that he sold at his own shows.

He slowly began garnering impressive credits with his session work with Janet Jackson, Alicia Key, Jay-Z, Eve, Common, the Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West and of course Britney Spears. But more than anything, John has particular pride in his key cut on "Everything is Everything", which was a multi-platinum Grammy winning album 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill'.
