Music lovers lament the absence of passion in music these days. But, they might not have heard of Kasabian. It has passion by the tractor-load and what's more it is not making music to be famous but because they just cannot do without it. It is etched somewhere deep in their souls. Kasabian is a revolutionary new band that found that all the pop music around them was dull and mannered. So they mixed a bit of Happy Monday, Primal Scream and The Stones with electronic influenced by DJ Shadow and took the music world by storm. The music of this band has an inherent passion that must be heard to be believed, and the icing on the cake would be if you get to hear them live. You have your opportunity to do so as they are on tour now. So go get your tickets now from your online ticket vendor.
The name Kasabian, is taken from Charles Mansons getaway driver Linda Kasabian, who later turned state witness. Based in Leicester, England, the members of the band, Tom Meigham (Lead vocals and Backing vocals), Serge Pizzorno (Guitar), Chris Karloff (lead guitar, bass, omni chord), and Christopher Edwards (Bass), met while attending Leysland High School and Countesthorpe Community College. Growing up in Leicster a city , which accoriding to the band is boring in its entirety, the group took to music because at first there was just nothing elsed to do apart from listening to music, watching footbald, getting drunk, and wandering the streets at night, drunk to high heaven and singing. But of course this reason is characteristic of the bands humour. What really happened was that the Midlands cities like Leicester, Coventry, Birmingham were all centre of rave: hardcore music that was fusion of hip-hop beats and a dark sensibility. Though it was hated by the media , the alienated young teens loves it gradually developing in in all kinds of new directions. The result was Kasabians pounding rock.
Following the footsteps of Sun Ra and The Band, the members of Kasabian shifted to a remote old farmhouse, where the communal life provided a part of the fuel for their music. Though the farmhouse did not contain even the basic civic amenities, what it did have was the bands collection of all their favourite albums, including, Primal Scream, Neu!, Blackalicious, and the Beatles. Inspired by these artists they created a whole new sound of rock that was unafraid of electronics and took the listeners to the days of druggy dancing and baggy pants. The band quickly achieved a fanatical cult following with Tom Meigham becoming a darling of the press with his swaggeringly acerbic answers during interview. Adding to the hysteria were some revolutionary logos and sleeve art and fold out poster sleeves, 10" versions, and hand-stenciled covers that accompanied "Club Foot", "L.S.F", and "Processed Beats" their 2004 singles.
All this added up to their self-titled album hitting the Top Five on the U.Ks album chart in October 2004. This phenomenally unique band might just be performing at a venue near you, which is reason enough for you to go buy those tickets now.
