Because of their cathartic alternative metal sound, "Korn" has earned a place for themselves in the world of rock music. The band emerged during the tumults post-grunge era and went on to become one of the most popular and provocative acts. Initially, the band began as Bakersfield. The original line of the band comprised of bassist Reginald, "Fieldy Snuts, guitarists Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer, and drummer David Silveria.
With this line up the band went on to issue their debut LP in 1993. At the end of the year, the band is joined by Jonathan Davis. He became the lead vocalist of the band. Soon, they were signed by Epic records. Under this record, the band issued their self titled maiden album in late 1994. To promote this release, the band embarked on an extensive tour. During touring, they opened for the popular acts including Megadeth, Ozzy Osbourne, 311, and Marily Manson.
Consequently, this release raised the music charts and eventually went gold. This was followed up by "Life Is Peachy" in 1996. This release proved an instant hit and peaked at number three spot on the popular pop album charts. Then, the band went on to perform in the Lollapalooza tour. During the recording of their superb LP, "Follow the Leader" in 1998, the band once again hit the headlines, as when a school student was suspended for wearing a Korn's logo T-shirt. According to the principle of the school, their music was "obscene, indecent and vulgar."
During the annual Family Values tour in 1998, the band featured a star studded line up comprised of band's collaborators such as Ice Cube and Limp Bizkit. This tour proved a huge success for the band. After this followed their next album, "Issues" in 1999. To promote this album, the band embarked on yet another extensive tour. Though, they had to drop drummer David Silveria because of physical injury but they recruited former Faith No More's popular drummer Mike Bordin.
Then they toured with some great acts including Kid Rock, Powerman 5000, Metallica, and System of a Down. In 2002, the band issued their next album, "Untouchables." This album was followed up by "Work Up!" in 2004 and "Twisted Transistor" in 2005. If you want to know more about this dazzling act then catch them performing live, but don't forget to collect your tickets from an on-line ticket vendor to avoid the huge rush for tickets.
