Kris Kristofferson is considered as one of the most prestigious and talented country songwriter in the beginning of the '70s. Although initial years were struggling, Kristofferson struggled hard to establish himself as a renowned artist. He wrote some of the magnificent songs such as "Me and Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Sunday Mornin'Comin' Down," "For The Good Times," to name just a few. Almost all of these and other songs were smashing hit which rocked the world and audiences around the world. He was one such artist whose songs were recorded by almost all the well known music personalities of the world. By now his popularity grew so much that he gained the attention of Hollywood, and eventually started working as a movie actor.

Kristofferson belonged from an army background. His father was a retired Air Force major general , who was responsible for heading up air operations for the Saudi Arabian company Aramco. However, Kristofferson's childhood was spent in Brownsville, TX, but after several years all of them shifted to San Mateo to stay their permanently. During this time Krisofferson was in his junior high-school. His talent was recommendable as he won several awards and scholarships for his song writing skills.

In 1958, Kris acquired the most renowned scholarship titled the Rhodes scholarship because of which he was able to pursue his studies at the Oxford University in England. During his days at the University Kris met Larry Parnes, the famous personality of the music industry who was responsible for establishing some of the famous pop stars like Tommy Steele and other British pop stars. This further opened gateways for the artist in the music industry, as he started working with Parnes. During this time Kris did several recordings for Top Rank Records which was done under the production of Tony Hatch. But this effort of his could not bring in much of a success for him.

But, later on he came out with some of the marvelous songs which are remembered even till date.
