Martina was born as Martina Mariea Schiff in Sharon, in1966.shediscoveredcountrymusic through her father, leader of a local band called the Schifters. By her teen age, she was playing keyboards and singing with the Schifters. After high school she traveled around Kansas with several different bands. After marrying to soundman John McBride, in 1990 Martina worked as a demo singer. Her husband produced her own demo tape. It got her signed to RCA in 1991.Eventually; her effort landed Martina an opening slot on tour with Brooks.
The debut album, "The Time Has Come", was released in 1992.It offered a set of songs indebted to progressive-minded country-folk and traditional honky tonk. The pop influenced 1993 follow-up, "The Way That I Am' was her first great commercial breakthrough. The lead single "My Baby Loves Me" zoomed up on the country charts to the number two position. Her appealing story-song "Independence Day" became a signature number. Another single, "Life #9", touched the Top Ten. McBride's Wild Angels (1995) got her second Top Five hit in "Safe in the Arms of Love".
The title track of the song became her first-ever number one single in 1996. 1997's Evolution was her first Top Ten country album. Her, the Jim Brickman duet "Valentine" also went Top Ten. It crossed over to become her first mega hit on the adult contemporary charts. Another of her," Evolution" spawned two number-two hit singles like" Happy Girl" and "Whatever You Say". It had also two number-one hits "A Broken Wing" and "Wrong Again". The album sold over two million copies. McBride was launched into the top rank of stardom. Her Christmas album was released in late 1998. She returned with the proper "Emotion" (1999). Its lead single, "I Love You," is evergreen in the memories of adult contemporary radio." Love's the Only House," "There You Are," and "It's My Time", the follow-ups were all successful. Her 2001's Greatest Hits compilation was the first album to top the country charts. it made the pop Top Five as well. Its four new tracks," Blessed", "When God-Fearin"," Women Get the Blues" and "Where Would You Be" all reached the Top Ten.
As of 2006 McBride is recognized as one of the top female singers. She is visible and a celebrity against anti-domestic violence. Her strong and pure soprano voicelabelled her as" the Céline Dion of country music". In 2005, her 18-track cd of classic country music landed at #1 on Billboard Country. It received much critical acclaim for her authenticity towards traditional country. She won the Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year award, a record four-times. Three-time Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year winner, she is also a Grammy Award winner." McBride has often performed free for fans (July 3, 2004,Owensboro).
