If you listen to their albums closely and concentrate hard enough, you can hear, the squeak of bed-springs, the sound of coke coming from tables and above all the sheer sleazy grind of California rock through the last two decades. Mötley Crüe has the back-handed distinction of being the most destructive band in history, and apart from their gut wrenching music, is one of the many reasons that fans throng to their concerts. Tickets are feasted upon with as crazy a fervour as the band's music.

In 1981, two strung-out adolescents' bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee, in search of good times and a record deal met up and laid the foundations of a band. They further recruited a guitarist, Mick Mars and singer Vince Neils, and named themselves Mötley Crüe. They made a dramatic impact with their, insanely catchy, riff driven first album "Too Fast For Love". It turned the world of Rock music upside down and ultimately led to the formation of an entire glam metal movement based in Los Angeles. Mötley Crüe was the precursor of Bon Jovi and Guns N'Roses. It wouldn't be too immodest a claim that without TFFL, there wouldn't have been a Jovi or a 'Roses.

Their classic albums in the 80s were controversial for their dark mood and introverted record. "Shout at the devil (1983) had cod-satanic elements and "Theatre Of Pain (1985) had an intensely dark mood. The 90s saw them becoming a full-blown stadiums act. They had all the freedom- big production budgets, models, the whole shebang. The band, then tried to match up to the angst and power of newer metal bands with "Mötley Crüe", though a strong record, it failed to got mixed reviews and low sales. The band hit back with 1997's "Generation Swine" and a "Greatest Hits the following year. " Supersonic And Demonic Relics (1999)" offered an exclusive perspective into the life and work of the Crüe. In 2000s, the band was working at full steam and released "New Tattoo". Mötley Crüe has the unique distinction of being the only bands in history to successfully acquire ownership of all their master recordings.

Motley Crue hold a very important place in the annals of rock'n'roll music. They made rock'n'roll what it is today. What has made their music a cult success is that they have left the philosophizing and menacing to other bands and have achieved what they had set out to do, and they did it with aplomb. They have kept the riffs coming and they mean every word. For American hair metal loving fans the band is the last word on their brand of music. Their concerts are a mix of showmanship, spectacle interlaced with sleazed addled rock. Their fans lap it up and tickets, even after all these years, sell at a rapid pace. For the uninitiated, they won't do better than a Mötley Crüe concert. So go get your tickets now. The most destructive band in the history of rock music is here!
