The formation of this remarkable band took place in the early 2000s, when lead singer Gerard Way and drummer Matt Pelissie, two high school friends, took a decision to write some songs together. The first tune that Pelisser and Way came up with was titled "Skylines and Turnstiles" (a post-9/11 song written after Way witnessed the Twin Towers fall while working at his animation job in New York City). The song gave bot Way and Pelissier a feel good feeling prompting Way to ask guitarist Ray Toro if to work with the duo. The five-man lineup, which constituted My Chemical Romance was complete when Way, Pelissier, and Toro teamed up with guitarist Frank Iero and bassist Mikey Way (Gerard Way's brother) . With that lineup in place, the band started work on its first album. Alongwith tours along the North-east corridor.
My Chemical Romance's debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, was issued by Eyeball Records, in 2002. The album soared the popularity charts with its combination of introspective lyrics with punk-pop's musical aggression. The album also showed My Chemical Romance's primary influence's which included, Morrissey, the Cure, and the Misfits. Moreover, Way even cited British heavy metal icons Iron Maiden as their primary influence.
The Lyrical quality of, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love was dark as it was introspective and cathartic. The lyrics used by the band were in one way a manifestation of all the problems Way had been going through (which included severe depression and a serious illness in his family). The 2002 release included the first song composed by Way and Pelissier's , "Skylines and Turnstiles," and and other songs with equally intriguing, titles like "Our Lady of Sorrows," "Vampires Will Never Hurt You," "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us," "Drowning Lessons," and "Headfirst for Halos." In 2004, they released Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge following a deal with their new record Reprise/Warner Bros in 2003. The album proving to be widely popular, boasting of several successful singles on MTV and commercial records, including "The Ghost of You," "Helena," and "I'm Not Okay (I Promise),"
Surprisingly Pelissier departed from the band in mid-2004, amid their growing popularity, and was replaced on drums by Bob Bryar. Following this, they undertook some relentless touring which further increased their fanatical fan following. They issued Life on the Murder Scene in March 2006, which entrenched their position as a band of refute, and contained CD and double-DVD documentation of almost everything MCR over recent years. This eponymous band is touring now and might just be playing at a venue near. So look up the schedules and buy the tickets online as soon as possible.
