Grab your dancing shoes and get your tickets to see a sizzling Latino sensation set the stage on fire- Paulina Rubio is a household name in Latin America and Spain and has become the new darling of the Latin pop music scene. With her stunning good looks and her electrifying brand of music, Rubio has made her mark on the Latin music scene and has also begun to set the mainstream music charts ablaze as well. She is an act not to be missed if you are in the mood for some really breathtaking music done Latino style.
Paulina Rubio began her musical career in 1980 when she was all of nine years old. She joined the group Timbiriche and would go on to record ten albums with the group before heading out on her own. Her time with Timbiriche taught her valuable skills on stage presence and recording styles; lessons that she would carry on and apply in her solo career. After her stint with the band, Rubio began to concentrate on her acting and took up a few roles in the currently running telenovels of that time.
However the pull of the microphone proved to be too strong and Rubio turned back to her musical career, though now she would do it solo. Her very first solo release was called La Chica Dorada and this was met with widespread success and accolades from critics and fans alike. This was followed by three other albums but it would be her fourth release, Paulina that would snag her a Latin Grammy nomination. Rubio also had a good deal of success on the English music charts with her hit single 'Don't Say Goodbye'. It was this single that would launch Rubio into the international music scene.
Her latest album Pau Latina has by far garnered her the most popularity in relation to her other efforts. The name of the album has many inferences- there is the similarity to her own name as well as the inference that Pau is the Catalan word for peace. This album got her the Premio Lo Nuestro award for best female vocalist of the year and the Premios Juventud award that was voted using audience polls.
