Ricky Martin was born December 24, 1971, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. During his childhood, he performed in school plays and sang in the school choir. At the age of six, he began acting in television commercials. Shortly afterward, he learned professional singing and acting lessons. It paved the way for his auditions for the group Menudo. In 1984, at the age of 12, he became a member of Menudo. The next five years established him, as the lead singer of the group. During the 90's Martin was lead singer of Menudo.He helped Menudo to become an international sensation. He went back home to Puerto Rico, in 1989,and completed high school. Shortly after graduation, he moved to New York, and he simply relaxed for several months. After a few months of inactivity, he worked his way back into the entertainment world. He returned to Mexico and acted on stage for a year earning accolades from the Mexican motion
picture industry.

In 1991, he released his debut album. He co-wrote it with his fellow Menudo star Robi Rosa becomes a regular collaborator over the course of Ricky's career. The album became platinum hit on the Latin charts. After Two years along with the Juan Carlos Calderon, he produced "Me Amaras". It was an even bigger hit and launched him to superstar status in Latin America. He joined the cast of the soap opera General Hospital, in 1994.he played Miguel Morez. His role was so successful that it gave him a role on Broadway. There he became Marius in Les Miserables. But he left soap opera to perform in the production and remained with the play for about a year.

He released his third album, A Medio Vivir, in 1995.though it was a record with a harder rock edge, yet it featured Latin styles like flamenco and cambia. He released his fourth album, Vuelve (in early 1998). Next was his first English-language pop album, which happened to be titled Ricky Martin, released in the spring of 1999. This made him an international superstar. Blockbuster singles in it includes "Livin' la Vida Loca" and "She's All I Ever Had." in 2000, Martin sizzled again with the release of Sound Loaded. His talent and voice captivated the audiences.

His meteoric ascent to fame led him to perform in various events worldwide. Martin sang "The Cup Of Life" during a World Cup live broadcast. It gave him worldwide exposure. But it is his "Livin' La Vida Loca" which became a massive crossover hit. It made him popular around the world and catapulted him into the covers of Tiger Beat and many more major magazines worldwide. Ricky Martin 's career high points came with the recording of the Spangles ballad "Cuidado" ("Be Careful") is company of Madonna and William Orbit. Its original version was written with Patrick Leonard. Ricky was chosen, in 1999, to lead Puerto Rico's worldwide tourism ambassador. He exemplifies youthfulness, enthusiasm and "never give up" character. In February of 2004, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Premios Lo Nuestro, Miami. Ricky Martin performed at the 2006 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony in Turin.

His, Ricky Martin Foundation created a project called People For Children. It aims to eliminate sexual exploitation and trafficking of children worldwide. He held His first benefit in Mexico City, on November 10, 2005.Martin came out with his Englishlanguage, On October 11, and 2005.It was his tenth album. Most of the songs on the album, were called Life, and co-written by him. Martin recognizes the album as one of his more personal album, in touch with my emotions. Ricky Martin 's music is very multi-layered, just the life is. It is about feeling anger, about feeling joy, about feeling uncertainty. It's about cupping a feeling. It's about broading the feeling.
