If you're a hardcore rock music follower then Rock in Rio will be your prime destination. Yes, you guessed it right Rock in Rio is the biggest rock music festival which is mostly held in Brazil. Every year Brazil is rocked by the rock music, loud instruments and electrifying atmosphere. Rock in Rio was born in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro with top artists performing there. The first edition was an experiment which paid well as this festival was a smash hit. There were various artists, who played at the first edition such as Scorpions, Iron Maiden, James Taylor, Nina Hagen, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen, AC/DC, Al Jarreau, The B-52's, George Benson, The Go-Go's, Rod Stewart, Whitesnake, Yes Alceu Valença, Baby Consuelo & Pepeu Gomes, Barão Vermelho, Blitz, Eduardo Dusek, Elba Ramalho, Erasmo Carlos, Gilberto Gil, Ivan Lins, Kid Abelha, Lulu Santos, Moraes Moreira, Ney Matogrosso, Paralamas do Sucesso and Rita Lee. All these known artists performed at the first edition which continued for almost 10 days. And in those 10 days there were about 1.4 million attendants. This shows that this rock festival was a smash hit and became famous.

Apart from that the electrifying performance by Queen on 12th and 19th January was broadcasted live all over the South America by Globo. And that show was viewed by almost 200 million people throughout over 60 countries. And the estimated audience at Queen's show was about 325 thousands that too each show. Soon this became a world record which is still waiting to be broken. Earlier this record was held by Molson Canadian as in his show at Rocks for Toronto there about 490,000 paying guests. Apart from that Iron Maiden also made a legendary performance as they played their latest release at the stroke of exactly two minutes to midnight. The song was "Two Minutes to Midnight" and soon that song became very popular and went onto climb all the major music charts.

Same happened in the third edition wherein Iron Maiden, REM and the Red Hot Chili Peppers made in to headlines. During the third Rock in Rio festival Iron Maiden recorded and released their live rock album which was another smash hit. The profits made from that album were donated to the Clive Burr fund. The Clive Burr fund was the fund organized to help the former drummer pay mounting medical bills for treatment of his multiple sclerosis. Another scintillating performance at Rock in Rio 3 was of famous American hard-rock band Guns N' Roses. They had a new and fresh line-up comprising guitarist Buckethead and original members Axl Rose (vocals) and Dizzy Reed (keyboards). Apart from that Nick Oliveri, the bass player for Queens of the Stone Age performed in the nude for part of their set. Soon after the concert he was arrested for indecent exposure but he was released on bail. In short we can say that each Rock in Rio festival was a memorable, thus it will be wise to book the tickets for the fourth one so that you can see the action live with loud music and famous artists.
