Background:

This band hails from Des Moines,IA. They formed their group in 1995. after some initial alteration in the band, the band formed its nine member line up. They were referred from the rank 0 to 8.

They got attention also because of their look; they wore identical industrial jump suit and Halloween masks made at home. the lyrics had a flavour of nihilism and darkness. They even had an insulting name for their fans: they called them 'Maggots'.

They are among the most rocking band in the modern music industry. The band first realized their potential in the year 1992. the "Basement session". They were formally formed in 1995. that time they released a Demo Album "Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat" this album had a good reception and subsequently many of the labels approached them.

Roadrunner Records,signed them and they released their debut album , which was self titled in the year 1999. the album became more popular with the help of the word of mouth.

In 1999, the band featured in the ozzfest and this consolidated their position among the fan.

In 2001, they came out with 'Iowa', this album had great expectations attached. It became the number three in the Billboard chart. It also topped the U.K chart album. The year marked their tour for the promotion of their album.

In 2003, the band came together and worked with the famous Rick Rubin. Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses) their third album came out in May 2004. it came into notice of some good label. The album was number two at the Billboard chart.

Detractors say that they are not sincere in their music as they are full of violence on the stage. They accuse them of being fake, that they just are aggressive because they want to see out their music and not because they are angry with the world.

This is a nu-metal band. This is the controversial side of the alternative rock music. The band's mix of post-Korn alternative metal, grinding, Marilyn Manson-esque neo-shock rock and rap metal has always made them a talked about band.
