Background:

Social Distortion famously known as Social D is an old school punk band. They premiered in the early '80s and since then they have been performing till the present times.
Front man Mike Ness who was a teenager in 1978 formed this band. As a part of the nascent hardcore movement the band played with their contemporaries like Orange County, California bands such as the Adolescents, China White, and Shattered Faith. They had a fast paced and energetic style of music. They changed into more mature music forms and the transition started from the late 1980s when they began to change to rock oriented direction and it continued in the 90s. They also included elements of grunge and cowpunk. From the time of their inception the band has produced many hits even though it has had an unstable line up with many members leaving the band and new members joining in quiet often but front man Mike Ness has remained and the band has never broken up.

Dennis Danell the bands guitarist and a long time member passed away in 2000, but the band overcame the loss and in 2004 released their latest album Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll. The band has a new member, bassist Brent Harding but the band has not yet confirmed if he would be a permanent member of the band or not. The band has been working on a new album with brand new songs which is expected to be released sometime in 2006.
Since they have come into the music arena the band has produced many hit singles like : "Mommy's Little Monster", "Prison Bound", "Story of My Life", "Ball and Chain", "Bad Luck", "When She Begins", "I Was Wrong", "When The Angels Sing" and their new singles from their new album Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll: "Reach for the Sky", "Highway 101" and "Don't Take Me For Granted".
They have given such famous tracks which have appeared on several video games. For example, track "Don't Drag Me Down" was featured on Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX video game and "Mommy's Little Monster" was featured on Tony Hawk's Underground.
