Get your tickets to see a musical icon live in concert, a stalwart who has made a name for herself both as a part of one of this century's biggest rock bands and as a successful solo artist- get your tickets to see the legendary Stevie Nicks live in concert. With her trademark soulful voice that echoes the sound of greats like Janis Joplin, her incredible songwriting talent and her ability to keep a successful solo recording career going are all testaments to the musical genius of Stevie Nicks.
Nicks injected new life into the band Fleetwood Mac, contributing two songs to the 1975 album release which culminated in the band's first ever Billboard number one hit. Nicks continued to be an active member of the band even while pursuing her solo career, a feat that very few musicians have been able to accomplish. She was part of the magic of Rumours, one of the best selling albums of all time and Tusk, which was also successful but failed to do what Rumours did.
After the release of Tusk, Nicks embarked on her own solo career and one of her first singles was a collaboration with Tom Petty called 'Stop Draggin' My Heart Around', which did very well. Her first solo album went platinum five times over and her second album went double platinum. Nicks also garnered much attention with her Rock a Little Tour that included Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. Nicks was at the pinnacle of her career but her life was spinning out of control thanks to her addiction to cocaine. To make matters worse, her trip to rehab got her hooked on the sedative Klonopin which made her put on weight. With her sex symbol status gone, her increasingly grating voice and a legion of fans that did not like the look or sound of the new Stevie Nicks, she went into depression. Despite a number of hit albums and singles, both as a soloist and with Fleetwood Mac, the pressure became too much and in 1994, Nicks went into exile.
Nicks came back with a bang in 1997 minus the addiction and the weight. Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and Nicks continued making chart topping music. She has been cited as a major musical influence by artists like Courtney Love, Tori Amos, Sheryl Crow, The Dixie Chicks and Michelle Branch. Her songs have been covered by bands as varied as the Smashing Pumpkins and she has become a cultural icon with her unique sense of style and her never say die attitude. She was voted number 14 on VH1's list of the most influential female artists in music history.
