Grab your tickets to see the biggest new alternative band on the block, a band that has carved a deep niche for itself on the music scene- come get your tickets to see Taking Back Sunday perform live in concert. This stellar band has taken a huge bite out of the mainstream music scene without compromising the uniqueness of its sound- little wonder that it has managed to garner a fan following of enormous proportions and have already been predicted as being the next big thing on the alternative music scene.
Hailing from New York, Taking Back Sunday released their first album in 2001- it made a splash on the underground music scene but subsequent releases could not make any waves on the mainstream. It would be with the release of their 'Cure Without The E' that Taking Back Sunday began to get noticed. Other musicians began taking notice of the talent of this band and soon Taking Back Sunday was jamming with acts like Brand New and The Used. They also appeared on the 2003 Vans Warped Tour, no small feat for a band that had just been underground a while ago.
After a few line up shuffles and changes, the band moved on and hit considerable success in 2004, when they opened for blink-182 and headlined at the Vans Warped Tour. Their second studio album 'Where you Want to Be' not only debuted at number three on the Billboard charts, they were also contributing artists to such blockbuster movies as Spiderman 2, The Fantastic Four and Elektra. In 2006 they released Louder Now which was completely leaked onto the internet almost five days after its release.
Taking Back Sunday have often been referred to as an emo band, emo referring to the emotional hardcore punk music of bands like Beefeater and Fugazi. Taking Back Sunday maintain they are not emo and think the term is a meaningless one. Recently, during a performance at the Give it a Name indoor festival, bassist Matt Rubano was hit by vocalist Adam Lazzara. Rubano returned with his head bandaged and blood on his face but completed the set albeit sitting down.
